You Don’t Have to Explain Yourself is a practical guide for anyone who's tired of overexplaining, overcommitting, and quietly disappearing to keep the peace.

This isn’t a book about being more assertive. It’s about coming home to yourself.

You don’t need a script.

You don’t need permission to trust yourself.

You already have the right to say what you feel — and to stand by it.

Drawing from personal experience and years of daily meditation practice, Robert G. Schneider, MS, LCPC-C, offers a grounded, compassionate path for rebuilding your boundaries without guilt. In these pages, you’ll learn how to:

• Say no without overexplaining

• Recognize where you’re performing instead of connecting

• Hold your ground when someone pushes back

• Spot guilt-trips dressed up as concern

• Reclaim energy, clarity, time, and space for yourself

This is not a book about becoming harder or colder. It’s about becoming more honest, more whole, and more free — even when it’s awkward, even when it’s hard, especially when it matters.

If you've ever felt resentful, exhausted, or quietly angry after putting everyone else first, this book will show you a different way: one that doesn't require anyone else's permission.

This book was so concise, so clear, and right on target. I actually liked the voice, as well. If you are a people pleaser or lack even partial boundaries, this book is it. My alarm bells went off on the first ten minutes. I’ve never heard my own behavior described so thoroughly. Game changer.

Robotic. Felt a bit like AI therapy. But good! Helpful, concrete information without fluff and ego of author.

Insightful. Clear. Concise. Helpful.

Listening to this book was like hearing the story of my life. It really resonated with me because I thought the author wrote the book about me.
It was so spot on that I nearly cried listening to it.
If you have boundary issues with anyone, are a people pleaser, walk on eggshells around some people, and have trouble standing up for yourself and speaking up for your needs, this book is for you !
I plan on listening to it again and implementing the strategies outlined in the book. I know it won’t be easy, but if I don’t do it, I will lose myself completely.

Very helpful !
