This version of MacBeth is simplified but not patronizing, violent but not graphic. There are some tough moments - a little kid is brutally murdered, after all - but this audiobook is simply too excellent to keep from your kids.

We listened to MacBeth over two sessions during a long car ride. All three of us (ages 8 to 40) were enthralled - completely caught up in this gripping tale that at least one of us knew would end very, very badly. The adaption is careful and faithful to the original. The narration is professional, seamless and stirring. Overall, the quality of this audiobook surpasses other Shakespeare adaptions and, for that matter, all other youth selections I've purchased on Audible.

I had to pause the recording occasionally to explain certain terms and situations ("what's a thane?" "who's MacDuff?"), but I didn't mind. You wouldn't want your kids listening to a Shakespeare so dummied down that there's no 'splainin' to do. Besides, it's worth a little work to hear your ten-year-old spontaneously quote the greatest writer who ever lived. "Double, double, toil and trouble..."

My whole family enjoyed this high quality product - listen to it together!

A superior cliffs notes alternative!

Everyone knows what a genius Shakespeare was and that’s why his work is still so popular today. However, everyone also knows how hard it is to understand that old English dialogue as it spoken.

I was going to see McBeth on stage and thought it would be a good idea to brush up on the characters and dialogue between them so that when I saw it live I could follow along more easily. The author did a great job with this and also filling in a lot of the gaps so that this read like a novel.

Definitely recommend this
