Communications specialist Alto’s shift aboard the starship M.G. Yellowjacket turns hellish after waking from a tryst to learn every crewmate has vanished. Worse, a sinister presence has crawled aboard the ship. It’s violent, destructive, and it can reach into your thoughts to make you see and feel what it wants.

Anxiety-ridden Alto might be the least-qualified person to face a creature that can hack minds like computers. Only a perilous journey to the ship’s bridge can reunite comms specialist with crew and give them a chance to call for help.

But the intruder only scratches the surface of this crisis, and discovering the truth will bring Alto face to face against a nightmare beyond flesh and thought.

Space Therapist Needed

Interesting and engaging intersectional portrayal of inner demons and how to handle them. At times, the story was predictable and the dialogue cliche, but the novella is worth a read/listen if interested in the its themes. The performance took me out of the story a few times, more in editing than reading, but I got used to it (choppiness between sections was the main issue).

Power- and Thoughtful Sci-Fi Horror

A brisk walk through the horrors of lost bodily and mental autonomy. Down-on-their-luck comms Tech Alto comes to realize some discoveries are better left undiscovered as the crew of their ship gets reconfigured in both body and mind by an extragalactic horror. Things get dark and messy, but the books insistence that Alto should not succumb either to external or internal horrors makes it an oddly encouraging listen. A must for people who played Dead Space and wished it was a bit more About Something and also low-key a bit more like Event Horizon.

I don't want to spoil ANYTHING.

If you like darker scifi, psyonic links, undead, and fleshy creatures... I suspect you will love this.
I was never sure what was real or not, and I loved every little twist and idea in this.

No suspense. within 10 min knew the whole story no run up to the scary parts. Had I known it had woke speak I never would have used a credit.
