I also enjoyed the tongue in cheek awareness of things they should or shouldn’t do if they were in a scary movie, recalling to the Scream films.
The mystery of it was set up well, some clues along the way helping me guess some of the reveals, but not all of it. I enjoy being surprised by a twist but also like to figure some of it out beforehand 😂
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the narration however. There were some audio quality issues when some lines were screamed, like when you’re too close to a mic and it gets that staticky noise. Some other lines were clearly recorded separately and you could tell it was copy/pasted (changes in tone & volume, and just didn’t sound like it naturally followed the paragraph before and after). The thing that really bugged me tho was when the narrator said the last line of a sentence as a question (“main office” Chapter 3, pg 45). Or like she forgot her line. It was such a weird and awkward delivery that I pulled out the ebook to check if it was written that way (it wasn’t lol). All these quirks seemed like it was an issue in the editing department rather than the voice actress’s fault though. I can imagine that it would be difficult to read everything perfectly! But could they not have her do a retake so it doesn’t sound like she lost her place in the book and then finally found it?😭
Great story, narration could be better!
