Dr. Grant Taylor leads a small contingent of Zona expedition survivors out of the forbidden land to St. Petersburg, Russia, where they undertake a new endeavor. They work with Boris Ustinov to create a protocol that will protect Zona from discovery by the outside world: Zona Foundation.

They learn of a competing expedition that is determined to find Zona and exploit it for commercial purposes. Grant and Tamara Kostova, a soldier and friend, undertake the mission to infiltrate the opposing team and ensure that they do not find the secret land, by any means necessary. The mission is so dangerous that they may never return to their friends or to Zona alive.

This is a story about humans protecting a unique ecosystem, Zona—a lost world—from discovery and exploitation by greedy adventurers and businessmen. It is about family values, rare animals, dire wolf civilization, and unspoken courage to do the right thing under difficult and life-threatening conditions.
