Good story. Poor narration.

What didn’t you like about J.W. Vohs’s performance?

Idk how much money you saved by reading it yourself but I promise it would have been money spent well to have a professional read it!

I enjoyed the listen but it was difficult for me in the beginning to get used to the way the narrator sounded.

ZOMBIES!!!

I have listened too so many zombie apocalypse books and watched my share of zombie movies as well and this book stands out to me. The author took a simple monster and gave it life (so to say), He made me feel like was part of what was going on, and being in the army myself I understand what he was going for and I enjoyed it. The only thing that I thought was a little redundant was he felt that he had to keep say he was an Army Ranger, I felt after the first couple of time would of been enough and yes I got it. That was the only co cern that I had with the this book and I just over looked it. This is well worth the credits and time I spent listening to it. The narration was needed a bit work has in some spots the yelling wasn’t all that necessary as it blew out my ears at times. Looking for more from this author and I hope he continues on and maybe a continuation of book 1 and find the time to write a sequel.

How could the performance have been better?

The author is a good story teller, However he is awful a narration.
There is very limited range of voice's. His female charters are horrid.
If he continues to have books on audible then he should find a good narrator.

I'm not sure that I will finish this book.

Not Bad

Despite what the nay sayers said, I gave this book a shot. The voices weren't bad Okay, well the male voices weren't bad. The female voices needed work or a female to do that part of the narration. All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next.

Great book, minor flaws.

This is an overall great book. The author indulges a bit over the top some times in his obsessions with halberds but if that doesn't bother you it is very well done. He has a few inaccuracies with military life which is weird because he claims to be a vet, but they're super minor in the grand scheme of things.
