Mo Collins survived the beginning of the zombie apocalypse by doing nothing but staying on the replica pirate ship the Viva Ancora. But after what he thought was a chance meeting of another survivor, Smokes, everything changed.

Mo has become the hero in a story seemingly channeled by Smokes. Following what sounds like a prewritten script, Mo and Smokes gathered a motley crew of typical zombie apocalypse survivors. Well, typical, except the zombies in this screenplay are called peevies, and are not dead but blue, naked, shit spewing infected humans who are rapidly evolving into sadistic monsters that will rip you apart and eat you slowly.

With the help of the expert, the tech, the old friend, and the oracle, they have defended their new island home from zombie hordes, betrayers, and villainous dictators. Oh, and they survived a plane crash while rescuing Mo’s brother. Who said being the hero would be easy.

But now this group of protagonists have set sail on a quest to find a supposed cure for the infection. What new adventures will they encounter? What new dangers will they find? Will they find new friends? New foes? Will Smokes find more Newport’s?

Follow Mo and his crew on their continuing adventures as they try to tempt fate and chart their way down the river.

In waters where the fish bite, the Zombies bite...and sometimes life bites.

Hilarious

This series continues to crack me up! I'm not sure what's makes me laugh the most, the crazy zombie names like blunatics, the funny accents the narrator does, or the fact that the author constantly reminds us that the main protagonists are running around dressed up like super heroes and video game characters! This is most definitely the funniest zompoc series I've ever listened to! Can't wait for the next book!

Hilariously awesome

This book was quite a surprise. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. FYI- SW Salzman is an awesome narrator.

What a listen!

Book 5 in this amazing zombie (comedy) series does not disappoint! What a great listen! Loving the characters and hope they make it. Great story. Narrator does a wonderful job. I enjoyed this so much, I am listeng to it again. I received this for free for an honest review.

Great books, seriously fun!

I've listened to them all... They are AWESOME!! Love Smokes. Love the humor, conversations, action, and language. I love these books, seriously. And Shawn Salzman is a fantastic narrator.

This series is Still Alive!

Zombie River Run is the follow up for the first four books in the Still Alive series by Javan Bonds. It chronicles the continuing struggles and adventures of the crew of Viva Ancora and the survivors of Guntersville. I really can’t say enough good stuff about this entire series, I love its humor, its cast of characters, and the storyline. And as an Alabamian, I find the characters, their interactions, and their culture extremely relatable. I swear that I’ve met and know some of them. This series still manages to horrify me and make me laugh out loud at the same time.

I think Zombie River Run suffers a bit in the storyline because of where it falls in the series as its working to resolve a few loose ends from the first books and set things up for the next few. That means after the story arc was wrapped up in the first four books, Zombie River Run transitions us into what is sure to be a great second story arc. It's a bit slower than the previous books and doesn’t end with the same adrenaline rush of climax, but it still has some great scenes, excellent dialog, and fun culture references.

Salzman continues to do a great job with the narration and delivers an amazing production. I still can’t believe he can perform the extraordinary range of character voices that he puts into this book. I’m definitely adding Salzman to my favorite narrator list and will be hunting down other books that he’s recorded.
