A laugh-out-loud communist-punching adventure!

Sam Rockwell came home from the Second World War to work as a fledgling private investigator specializing in helping "Returns": recently deceased ghosts who've come back with unfinished business. Short on experience and long on the imitated swagger of the detectives found in his dog-eared collection of pulp fiction P.I. mysteries, the quick-witted Sam waits for his big break - and his chance to win the heart of Amelia, his Girl Friday.

But when his no-nonsense father is murdered and becomes a Return himself, everything changes. Sam sets out to find his father's killer, only to find himself caught up in a madcap game of Cold War intrigue.

Humorous and hard-boiled, 'til Death is a witty, feel-good throwback to the golden age of Hollywood noir.

If you enjoy zany old-time radio detective stories, movies from the 1950's, smiling, chocolate milk, and punching communists, then this is the audiobook for you. I loved this and highly recommend it to everyone from tweens to the elderly. Can't wait for the next one.

This was well written where the docus of the book was the actual adventure! It was well written and a bit humourous. The narration was nicely done. The narrator made the voices come to life with humor.

Great Story!

This story comes across like an old noir detective novel, but amateurish. I almost quit, but (The Great) Johnny Heller kept me in it to the end. A case of a great reader making a mediocre story tolerable.

Hurray for Johnny Heller!

So entertaining! Wonderfully performed! Not only a fun listen, but many existential and even relationship issues had me pondering life in general. I love the supernatural, post-war America, and noir-detective genre; this is a cool blending of both. I really look forward to seeing these characters continue to deal with "returns" and soon.

Fallible, loveable Cold War supernatural P.I.
