Canada has just lived through what many are now calling its “lost LNG decade.” From 2015 to 2025, while competitors like the United States, Qatar, and Australia surged ahead with liquefied natural gas exports, Canada stalled.
Projects such as Energie Saguenay in Quebec, Goldboro LNG in Nova Scotia, and Bear Head LNG promised billions in investment and thousands of jobs. Instead, they were shelved, delayed, or abandoned altogether.
