In the influential book, King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine, authors Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette, characterize the archetypal king in his fullness as someone possessing order, rationality, and integrity. The authors go on to describe the king as a generative and nurturing force, “looking upon the world with a firm but kindly eye.” The 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, is often seen as having embodied the "king archetype,” for good reason.

Roosevelt demonstrated kingly qualities in many ways throughout his life and career. As a president, he was known for his strong leadership, both at home and on the world stage. Here are a few examples of how Roosevelt embodied the king archetype and deployed its energies.
