In this episode children reflect on a creative drama activity where they worked together to write and perform their own short play. The conversation captures the excitement of storytelling, imagination, and teamwork as the children describe what they created together.
One group explains how they acted out a scene they called “Mean Girls and Sabotage Girls.” The performance included different roles such as police officers, teachers, and emergency services. Through their story the children explored what happens when someone gets hurt and how people respond to help.
The scene follows a dramatic moment on the street where someone is attacked. The police arrive, the person responsible is arrested, and an ambulance comes to help the injured person. Through play and performance the children worked through ideas about right and wrong, justice, and how communities respond when something bad happens.
The episode shows how creative activities give children a way to express what they see around them and how they understand the world. Through drama they explore safety, responsibility, and care for others while building confidence and learning to work as a team.
This conversation forms part of the “Listen to Us” series, where children share their voices, ideas, and experiences. Their stories remind adults how powerful creativity and play are in helping children make sense of the world around them.

This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The programme supports grassroots organisations across nine European countries that work to prevent violence against children, while ensuring that children themselves participate in shaping solutions.
The campaign will culminate in an advocacy seminar on 15 May 2026 in Dublin, bringing together educators, policymakers, youth organisations and child protection professionals to discuss the key messages emerging from the project and explore how children’s perspectives can better inform policy and practice.
