In this episode R and T take over the microphone and create their own podcast. The conversation moves quickly between stories about their day, music, school, and the things young people talk about when adults step back and let them lead.

The girls begin by sharing what happened during their day in town. New shoes, a trip to the shops, and time spent with friends set the tone for a lively conversation. The chat then turns to school life, where they reflect on the routine of lessons and the role school plays in preparing for the future.

Their exchange shows the honesty and humour of childhood conversations. One argues school matters for getting a job later in life. Another questions whether money matters at all. The discussion shifts naturally, the way real conversations between friends often do.

The episode ends with music and laughter as the girls break into song and invite listeners to stay tuned.

This episode forms part of the Listen to Us series, where children shape the conversation and speak in their own voices. The result offers a small window into everyday childhood. Friendship, opinions about school, and the joy of sharing a microphone.

This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The programme supports grassroots organisations across nine European countries that work to prevent violence against children, while ensuring that children themselves participate in shaping solutions.

The campaign will culminate in an advocacy seminar on 15 May 2026 in Dublin, bringing together educators, policymakers, youth organisations and child protection professionals to discuss the key messages emerging from the project and explore how children’s perspectives can better inform policy and practice.
