  • S12E03 - FRAME BY FRAME - THE ELEPHANT MAN
    Apr 1 2025

David Lynch really knew how to challenge himself. He never made the same movie twice, and surprised us with many choices. You never knew what he could get up to. We might not have Ronnie Rocket or other projects that went with his passing, but we have classics to own for the rest of our lives. The Elephant Man, along with The Straight Story, turned out to be his most mainstream success story, and firmly put him on the map, and ultimately the path of greatness.

We also talk about the passing of Gene Hackman who was also a painter in his own right. Gene weaved a tremendously memorable tapestry of film roles and made sure we never forgot who he was when he made his entrances.

  • S12E02 - FRAME BY FRAME - ERASERHEAD
    Feb 26 2025

Continuing our tribute to David Lynch by talking about the movie Eraserhead. Now I have to apologize for the movie sound of Eraserhead that appeared to drown out Stephen's words, but we managed to hopefully pepper this rather short episode with some great interviews with Catherine Coulson (otherwise known as the Log Lady in Twin Peaks) Jack Nance and David Lynch. They are the ones who made Eraserhead possible, and there is nothing we could say to make the experience any more relatable than what you can find in their interviews on Youtube. So this is a short one. Next time, we will do much better.

  • S12E01 - FRAME BY FRAME - The Short Films of DAVID LYNCH
    Feb 12 2025

We begin a very special tribute season dedicated to the one and only, boy from Missoula, Montana who became the painter with a vision. We navigate through his early years specifically lining up his sudden realization that he was an artist. The moment that captured his interest in filmmaking followed shortly after, no pun intended.

We talk about the early short films, SIX MEN GETTING SICK, THE ALPHABET, THE GRANDMOTHER & THE AMPUTEE.

We will always think fondly of David Lynch, because he thought so much about goodness. He transcended the human spirit.

  • S11E11 FRAME BY FRAME - FILMS OF 1999
    Jan 29 2025

This season has been about the 90s cinema for a reason. Andy and I think back at the 90s with great fondness. We both grew into full-minded human beings, not just because of our schooling and social experiences... but mainly because of the movies we saw. Ending with 1999 turned out to be more symbolic an end as it was made a week after the sad passing of David Lynch. We begin with his legacy, but we will continue on. For 1999 however, we saw these films: THE MATRIX, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, MAN ON THE MOON, DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, DOGMA, THE SIXTH SENSE AND THE STRAIGHT STORY. Peace. Always.

  • S11E10 FRAME BY FRAME | 1998 FILMS
    Jan 22 2025

Here we go again. Back into the warm comforter that is 90s nostalgia. The year 1998 brought about challenges and original adventures. There was very little in the way of imitation which is ironic as one of our choices started a whole multiverse of unoriginal ideas, and another just lacked kung fu and bullet time. Yes, we talk about NIGHTWATCH, THE BIG LABOWSKY, THE TRUMAN SHOW, THE WEDDING SINGER, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, BLADE, WHAT DREAMS MAY COME, DARK CITY, THE X FILES & RINGU.
