J Mel, a retired lawyer turned creative writer and podcaster, proposes that "politics" should be subordinated to "governance" and that America has lost its way because we have failed to develop and maintain an "enlightened citizenry". His podcast will explore the historical and philosophical bases of the problem and set a course towards Fixing America through the convening of the First Continental Congress of the 21st century. J Mel's goal is to create an interactive podcast with a variety of guests to form a coalition of positive, constructive citizens with a good faith desire and determination to form a sustainable liberal representative democracy.

Episode 2 spotlights that “Facts” and “Truth” are indispensable concepts that form the cornerstone of a democracy and why and how they are attacked by wannabe authoritarians who govern my “Fear” and “Deceit”. J Mel, an experienced trial lawyer, explains from a practical perspective how our judicial system establishes “facts” and evaluates “truth”, why it is a tested and proven system, and why it conclusively disproves Trump’s “big lie”. He shares a real-life example of why our system, even with its problems, works.
