On the evening of September 29, 1985, 32-year-old Dorothy Louise Estep left her home in Mexia, Texas, for a short trip to pick up her daughter from her ex-husband’s house. She never arrived. The following day, after the dedicated state social worker failed to show up for her job, a coworker raised the alarm. The search ended in tragedy when her yellow Plymouth Sapporo was found abandoned on U.S. 84 near the Elk cutoff in McLennan County. Inside the trunk lay Dorothy. Despite decades of investigation by the Texas Rangers and local authorities, Dorothy’s case remains unsolved. There were no witnesses to her abduction and few clues left behind on that stretch of highway. Join us as we look at the case and possible suspects.
