Nidia y su familia se mudaron al Chocó en los 90. La zona estaba controlada por las Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia. Un grupo de paramilitares la secuestró, al regresar su marido no estaba y huyó a Cali con su hijo. Se formó y a día de hoy es una lideresa social muy importante.
