This episode has been gnawing at my spirit, and I couldn’t skim the surface.
We live in a world that keeps fixing the outside while ignoring what’s happening underneath — with food, addiction, appearance, and pain. After listening to Jelly Roll share his journey, it reminded me of what I wrote about in Layers: addiction wears many masks, but the root is often the same.
Food is different because we need it to survive — which means healing isn’t about avoidance but about forming a new relationship. Real change doesn’t happen by cutting the grass; it happens when we deal with what’s growing beneath the surface.
In this episode, we talk about why surface solutions don’t heal deep wounds, why people trade one addiction for another, and why lasting freedom only comes when we go deeper — starting with God.
This is a longer episode as we head into Christmas, and we close reflecting on what we’re really fighting for and why the birth of Jesus changes everything.
