Marriage would be easier if we could download a “Build A Spouse” app and patch every flaw with a click, but that fantasy hides a deeper problem: we start acting like we own marriage. We don’t. This week, we return to Genesis 2 to show marriage as God’s design from the beginning, built for companionship, covenant, and unity rather than for convenience or culture.

We unpack the moment God says it is “not good” for man to be alone, what “helper fit for him” really means, and why Eve's formation from Adam’s side points to equality, closeness, and partnership. From there, we dig into the biblical pattern of leaving, holding fast, and becoming one flesh, with “one flesh” reaching far beyond physical intimacy into spiritual, emotional, and practical unity. If you’re searching for Christian marriage advice that is anchored in Scripture, this is the blueprint.

Then we tackle a mindset shift that can change everything: marriage as a covenant, not a contract. Contracts are conditional and easy to exit when expectations are unmet. A covenant is sacred, witnessed by God, and modeled after the faithful love of Christ for the Church. We also talk honestly about marrying for the wrong reasons and the reality of being unequally yoked, while keeping the focus on returning to God’s purpose.

  • Isaiah 5:9-17 - Congrats on the Mansion ... Too Bad No One's Living in It - 308
    Mar 17 2026

Judah is throwing a never-ending party, buying up land, building bigger homes, pouring more wine, and assuming tomorrow will look like today. Then Isaiah steps into the room like the lights just came on, and God’s message is blunt: comfort without righteousness does not protect you, it blinds you. We open Isaiah 5:9–17 verse by verse and follow the logic of God’s warning as greed turns into desolation, abundance turns into scarcity, and self-indulgence turns into exile.

As we move through the passage, we connect Isaiah’s “woes” to the covenant framework of Deuteronomy 28, where blessing is tied to obedience and curse follows covenant infidelity. We talk about land grabbing and unjust accumulation, the futility of vineyards that barely produce, and a culture of drunken entertainment that “does not regard the deeds of the Lord.” The point isn’t that celebration is always wrong; it’s that pleasure can become a god that trains us to ignore God’s work, God’s voice, and God’s boundaries.

The warning intensifies with Isaiah’s line that the people go into exile “for lack of knowledge,” not lack of information, but lack of God-centered understanding. We also unpack the vivid Sheol imagery, the humbling of human pride, and the theological anchor of the section: the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and God shows himself holy in righteousness. If you’re looking for a Bible study podcast on Isaiah, spiritual blindness, pride, and God’s justice, this chapter lands close to home.

  • Marriage Rapid Fire Fun and Games with Scottie and Vicky Albious - 307
    Mar 12 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

What if the quickest answer tells the deepest truth about your marriage? We invited our friends Scottie and Vicky to play a rapid-fire game—coffee or dinner, quiet drive or music, practical help or romance—and watched the laughs open doors to real insight. The fun never left, but it made room for faith, vulnerability, and a fresh look at the small habits that hold a Christ-centered marriage together.

We share how being “anchored” doesn’t mean smooth waters; it means choosing grace when pride wants the last word, and choosing apology when silence feels easier. You’ll hear how different prayer styles—quiet reflection on the commute vs bold out-loud declarations—work together to steady a home. We unpack why sermon podcasts speak to some while worship playlists lift others, and how honoring those differences can deepen unity rather than divide it.

Parenting brought the sharpest lessons. A strict, black-and-white approach met a nurturing, compassionate heart, and both had to change. We talk through repairing trust with older kids, blended family dynamics, and the courage to apologize when the Holy Spirit nudges. Along the way, we name tiny “tells” of love—who loses the keys, who’s late, who turns down the radio—and how those moments can become chances to serve instead of scorekeeping. By the end, you’ll have a simple at-home challenge: ask five rapid-fire questions with your spouse, let first answers stand, and then talk about what they reveal about rest, connection, and care.

If you’re craving a joyful reset without a heavy lecture, this conversation blends laughter, practical wisdom, and honest faith. Listen, try the questions, and watch how small choices rebuild closeness. If it helps, share it with a couple who could use a hopeful nudge—and if it encouraged you, subscribe, rate the show, and leave a review so more marriages find this resource.
