In the months following the devastating 2011 tsunami in Ishinomaki, Japan, several taxi drivers reported picking up passengers who mysteriously vanished during the ride. Many of these passengers asked to be taken to neighborhoods that had been completely destroyed by the disaster. Were these encounters the result of trauma and grief, or something far more unsettling?
