We are kindred spirits with the man born blind

Throughout Lent, we have gone from the Temptation of Christ, His Transfuguration, the encounter with the woman at the well, and now the man born blind.

This past Sunday reminds us that regardless of our past and our sins, Jesus does not stray from us; instead He draws closer to us so we may encounter His love and mercy.

As we journey closer to Easter, consider reflecting on where you have wondered back into darkness and come experience His life giving Light in the sacrament of confession. He seeks us, calling out to us in the darkness to heal us.

This week, we offer confessions Tuesday evening 6-7pm, Thursday evening 6-7pm, and Saturday afternoon from 2:30-3:30pm. Check out our Holy Week at STA post for extra Lenten confession times during Holy Week.

    Readings:

    First Reading - 1 Samuel 16:1b, 6-7, 10-13a

    Psalm - Psalm 23: 1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6

    Second Reading - Ephesians 5:8-14

    Turn to Jesus

The Samaritan woman was searching for fullness in her life and Christ showed her He was what she was looking for. He gave her what was best for her — not what she wanted, but what would bring her closer to Him.

Will you allow the Lord to come into your life in a new way this week as the Samaritan woman did at the well, living your life more fully for Him and less for yourself?

    Psalm - Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9

    Second Reading - Romans 5:1-2, 5-8

    Gospel - John 4:5-42

The Spirit led Christ out to the desert 🏜️

During Lent, we are also led into the desert where we will be tempted. However, Christ is with us there — He shares this journey with us. These 40 days are not just about giving something up, it’s about learning to listen to God and to trust where He is guiding us.

This first week of Lent, may we be encouraged by His presence and continue to surrender our lives to Him. You are not alone on this journey — Christ is with you.

    Second Reading: Romans 5:12-19 or 5:12, 17-19
