  • S2 EP10: Weapons of Influence Pt. 3 Consistency, Commitment And Scarcity
    Mar 26 2026

Parents, today we conclude our series on the weapons of influence.

In Part 1, I talked about reciprocity and liking.
In Part 2, I talked about authority and social proof.

In this final episode of the series, I focus on two powerful principles that shape long-term behavior.
    Commitment and consistency.
    And scarcity.

Commitment and consistency are powerful because once people make a decision or a promise, they naturally want to follow through.
We all want to be seen as consistent.
As people who keep our word.

This is why what your child commits to matters.
Because once they say yes to something, they are far more likely to stay aligned with it.

As parents, we can use this principle by involving our children in decisions.
Not just telling them what to do, but helping them commit to values, goals, and standards they believe in.

I also share practical ways to do this, like creating a family mission statement together, setting goals, and committing to meaningful activities as a family.

    The second principle is scarcity.

Scarcity is the idea that what is rare becomes valuable.
    We see this everywhere.
    Limited time offers.
    Exclusive access.
    Fear of missing out.

But as parents, we can use this in a different way.

By creating meaningful, rare experiences with our children.
Moments that do not happen every day.
Moments that become memorable because they are intentional.

Because at the end of the day, influence is not just about what we say.
It is about what we consistently do and the moments we create.

In this episode, I also talk about how programs like Youth on a Mission help young people develop purpose, leadership, and direction in their lives.

Because your child is being influenced every day.
    The question is:

    • who are they becoming consistent with
    • and what do they value most

  • S2 EP 9: Authority and Social Proof (Weapons of Influence Pt. 2)
    Mar 19 2026

Parents, today we continue our series on the weapons of influence.

In Part 1, I talked about reciprocity and liking. In this episode, I want to focus on two more powerful principles that shape human behavior.

    Authority and social proof.

These two principles are influencing your children every single day whether they realize it or not.

Authority is powerful because people tend to follow those they believe have credibility, expertise, or power. But authority can be used in two ways. It can be used to control, or it can be used to serve.

As parents, our role is not just to have authority, but to use it in a way that builds trust, provides guidance, and creates a safe environment for our children.

I also talk about what I call appointed authority versus anointed authority. One is based on position. The other is based on influence, trust, and leadership.

The second principle is social proof.

This is the tendency to follow the crowd. When people are unsure, they look to others to decide what is right or acceptable.

We saw this on a global level during COVID. We see it every day on social media through likes, followers, and trends.

Our children are especially vulnerable to this.

That is why we must teach them to think for themselves, not simply follow what everyone else is doing.

In this episode, I also share how parents can use both authority and social proof in a positive way, and why programs like Youth on a Mission are so important in helping young people find purpose, direction, and leadership.

Because at the end of the day, you are the primary authority in your child’s life.

    In This Episode

    • The power of authority and how it shapes behavior
    • Appointed authority vs anointed authority
    • How parents can use authority to serve and guide
    • What social proof is and why people follow the crowd
    • How social media amplifies social proof
    • Why kids must learn to think for themselves
    • How Youth on a Mission helps develop young leaders

Our children are growing up in an environment where social proof is constant.

  • S2 EP8: Weapons of Influence Pt. 1
    Mar 12 2026

Parents, today I’m beginning a three part series about something that affects every family today.

    The battle for influence.

Our children are being influenced every single day by social media, peers, advertising, and digital culture. The real question is not whether they will be influenced. The question is who will influence them the most.

This series is based on the work of social psychologist Robert Cialdini and his well known book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, where he explains six powerful principles that shape human behavior and persuasion.

In this first episode I focus on two of those principles. Reciprocity and liking.

Reciprocity means people feel compelled to give back to those who give to them. When parents invest attention, time, and emotional connection with their children, it strengthens the relationship and builds trust.

The second principle is liking. People are influenced by those they like and feel connected to. Influencers understand this very well, and parents can apply the same principle by stepping into their children’s world, showing genuine curiosity, and spending meaningful time together.

Because influence does not begin with authority.

    In This Episode

    • The battle for influence facing every parent
    • The six weapons of influence identified by Robert Cialdini
    • Why influence begins with relationship
    • How reciprocity builds connection with your kids
    • Why children follow people they like and trust

    Influence begins with relationship.

And in today’s world, the greatest battle parents face is the battle for the hearts and minds of their children.
