“He alone starts the shooting and stops it according to his own definition of when the war begins and ends.”
This drives generals, diplomats, and think-tank interns into spasms of anxiety because they are accustomed to endless escalation, endless committees, endless policy debates. Trump’s philosophy is refreshingly archaic: define the mission, crush the threat, and declare it complete. There is no prolonged phase two of moral lecturing, no nation-building boondoggle, no endless “strategy review” memos that produce little more than PowerPoint slides and existential dread.
In other words, Trump fights wars in a way that allows people to live their lives. Civilians survive. Infrastructure may get rattled but not obliterated. When the dust settles, local populations can resume business, farming, family, and commerce, which—call me crazy—is the whole point of removing a dictator or terrorist network in the first place.
