    The Mansfield Senior boys basketball team's incredible tournament run came to an end on Saturday in the Division III Regional Championship game, 81-61, falling to Toledo Central Catholic (23-3). Senior High and the Fighting Irish were tied, 16-16, after the 1st quarter and the TYgers lead by 3 points early in the 2nd quarter. DJ Corbin picked up 2 fouls early in the game, actually less than a minute into the fist quarter and played limited minutes in the 1st half. TCC outscored Mansfield Senior 20-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 36-27 lead at the half. The Irish had a big 3rd quarter, where every time Senior High would score, they would answer with a big basket and took a 61-41 lead into the 4th quarter. Mansfield Senior (19-8) got 22 points from Kaylen Brooks, who is only a sophomore and is such a great shooter, Davion Mack 10 points ( and another thunderous dunk), 9 points each for DJ Corbin and D'Vontae Johnson, while Andrew Brooks chipped in 7. Senior High is a regional runner-up for the 1st time since 2014 and TCC won their 3rd regional championship in school history in basketball. Central Catholic was led by Manny Johnson with 24 points and Cayden Kynard with 20. Jordan Langford was big off the bench with 11 points, which included three 3's at key times in the game. The future is bright for Mansfield with several key guys coming back next year: Kaylen Brooks, Andrew Brooks, Davion Mack and Sammie Likely.

    The Mansfield Senior boys basketball team is one win away from the state final four. The TYgers beat Alliance, 65-61, on Wednesday night at Savage Arena on the campus of the University of Toledo. Four TYgers scored in double figures, led by sophomore Kaylen Brooks with 19 points, Andrew Brooks had 15 points, Rashad Reed with 11 and Davion Mack added 10 points. DJ Corbin scored 8 points and pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds. Corbin connected on a free throw with :07 seconds to extend Senior High's lead to two possession and 4 points. Mansfield Senior fell behind 17-13 after the 1st quarter, but it was the 2nd quarter where the game changed, as the TYgers outscored the Aviators, 16-4, and DJ Corbin played a big role scoring 7 points. Senior High (19-7) will play Toledo Central Catholic on Saturday at 2 pm in the Division Regional Championship game at the University of Toledo. It's the first time since 2014 that Mansfield Senior is playing in the Regional Final. The last time that the TYgers won the Regional title was in 2005.     Mansfield Senior won their 1st district championship in 12 years on Saturday night, 64-61, over Lima Shawnee at Ontario High School. The TYgers got a combined 37 points from Kaylen Brooks (21) and Andrew Brooks (16) to win their first district crown since 2014. Senior High had a 21-16 lead after the 1st quarter, but Shawnee took a 2 point lead into halftime at 34-32. DJ Corbin, who had 7 points and 5 rebounds, drilled a 3-pointer at the horn sounded into the half, which cut a 5 point deficit to only 2. Senior High took control in the 3rd quarter by out scoring Shawnee, 15-8, to take a 47 - 42 lead into the 4th quarter. Lima Shawnee was able to outscore Mansfield Senior by 2 in the 4th, but the TYgers were able to make plays down the stretch to secure the win. Davion Mack played well off the bench with 10 points to given the TYgers a 3rd player in double figures. Mansfield Senior (18-7) will now play Alliance in the Division III Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday night at the University of Toledo at 8 p.m.

    Mansfield Senior is headed to the district championship game for the 1st time in 12 years. The TYgers beat Oregon Clay, 55-47, on Thursday in the district semi-final at Ontario High School. Senior High sophomore Kaylen Brooks shot 52% from the floor and poured in a game-high 28 points in the win. Brooks connected on four 3's and was clutch in the 4th quarter, where he knocked down 6 of 8 free throws. DJ Corbin had a double-double for the TYgers, 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Andrew Brooks played with incredible energy on offense and defense, where he added 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and drained 2 big free throws late in the 4th quarter. Oregon Clay was led by Grant Oberdick with a team-high 24 points. Senior High (17-7) will now play Lima Shawnee on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Division III district championship game at Ontario. It's the TYgers first appearance in the district final since 2014.

    The Galion Tigers used a big 4th quarter to defeat the Clear Fork Colts, 54-44, Tuesday in the Division IV District Semi-Final. Galion, behind a monster game from Dom Capretta, 20 points, will play for the district championship on Saturday vs Van Wert. The Tigers got 13 points from Christian Bare and Jamison Glew added 9. Clear Fork was led by Jacob Brokaw and Trey Sellers, who each scored 15 points. The game was broadcast live on WMAN.

The game aired live on WMAN with Aaron Hines and Erik Will. Brayden DeVito led Shelby (16-7) with 13 points, while Michael Shepherd had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Ontario's Cardae Brown had 13 points to lead the Warriors, while Trindon Flenoury chipped in 11. Ontario ends their season at 15-8.

    Mansfield Senior claimed a Sectional Championship on Friday with a victory, 65-30, at home over Norwalk. Senior High, which had not played in two weeks, February 13th, trailed by 1 point, 13-12, after the 1st quarter. The TYgers went on to outscore the Truckers 48-9 combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarters in route to the win. Mansfield Senior had 4 players score in double figures led by 15 points off the bench from Davion Mack, who had 2 dunks to get the crowd jumping. Rashad Reed added 12 points, while D'Vontae Johnson and DJ Corbin each chipped in 10. Johnson had a team and game high 5 assists. Senior High had 16 steals as a team, which resulted in 37 points off of turnovers. Norwalk (1-22) was led in scoring by Xaiver Saunders with 16 points. Mansfield Senior (16-7) will now play Oregon Clay on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Division III District Semi-Final at Ontario High School. You can hear the game "live" on WMAN.

    The Shelby Whippets won a sectional championship on Thursday, at home vs Kenton, 72-43. The Whippets held an 8 point lead at halftime, 27-19, but outscored the Wildcats 45-24 in the 2nd half. Shelby's Brayden DeVito scored a game-high 31 points, which included five 3-pointers - plus a DUNK! Landon Foltz had 12, 10 of which came in the 3rd quarter in a key stretch for the Whippets. Shelby also got 11 points from Gavin Miller and Michael Shepherd chipped in 10. Kenton (2-20) was led by Issac Anderson with 13 points #2 seed Shelby (15-7) now will take on #1 Ontario (15-7) for the 3rd time this season in the District Semi-Final on Tuesday (6 pm) at Mansfield Senior High School.
