    To clarify the meaning of sacrifice for the purposes of this episode, sacrifice is the violent death, exile or diminishment of someone or something by others as an offering to or for something greater. This may be perceived in real time or through retrospective reinterpretation.

    Hopefully, this definition makes it clearer that this episode isn't necessarily about self-sacrifice. :-)
