  • 26.03.2026 - The People's Choice Award is Social Media Nonsense
    Mar 26 2026

In this episode, I offer a strong opinion about why the 'People's Choice Award' is a bad idea in photographic competitions. Such categories are never won by the 'best' photograph in class but are invariably taken out by whoever can scream the loudest on social media, 'Vote for Me!' This approach is the exact antithesis of why anyone should be entering a photographic competition, and such categories do little to foster the promotion of quality photography. Entering photography competitions should (if we enter for the right reasons) be about improving our work, growing as photographers through the feedback of our professional peers and competing against ourselves, and not worrying about social media popularity.

  • 23.03.2026 - Boots for Cold Weather Photography
    Mar 23 2026

In this episode, I briefly discuss the Auto Focus Guide Canon has published for the Canon EOS R1 and dive into a discussion on the ideal boots for cold-weather photography. I will publish a fairly extensive blog post on boots for cold-weather photography, as well as gloves and camera bags, in the near future. This podcast is therefore a preview for the upcoming, more extensive article where I deep dive into my choice of the best boots for cold-weather photography.

  • 20.03.2026 - What I Want Next From Canon
    Mar 20 2026

In this episode, I wrap up the three workshops I just completed in Iceland (two back-to-back workshops for the Arctic Fox in Hornstrandir and a private landscape trip to the south-west and south-eastern regions - trip reports coming soon). I also discuss what I want to see next from Canon and why dynamic range is just not that important as a camera metric.
