A Soldier's Life

Follow an unfortunate soul who has been thrown into a fantasy world with nothing. He is quickly railroaded into joining the Legion and has to develop under harsh conditions while slowly discovering his potential power.

The politics of the Telhian Empire are on display as Eryk and the company navigates the dangers within the Empire. The wayward hero thinks he is going to have time to relax after the harrowing experience in Macha. Things are never that simple as Eryk continues to grow and mature as a soldier.

With his abilities under scrutiny from others in the company, the protagonist is put in a precarious position. Before he can decide on a course of action, his mage company heads out on an exploration assignment to find the location of a lost dungeon, The Shimmering Labyrinth. It will become the most difficult part of the protagonists journey so far as enemies close in.

The company returns to the capital of the Telhian Empire, but our hero is not safe. First Citizens plot against him, but he finds allies and reluctantly joins the conspiracy against the Emperor. His tribulations are not over, as he must now survive becoming one of the Empire's elite Hounds.

Free from the Empire, Eryk flees with Maveith, following a thread of hope that Maveith's sister is alive. The journey is perilous, and success is not assured. To conceal their true objective, the pair become mercenary adventurers as they cross the continent.
