Each story starts with a catalyst. A funeral, a car crash, a break in, a theft, and a curse. From there, each of the women's lives go way off track from what they envisioned for themselves. Luckily for them, it might just be what they need.

Sutton Tate’s whole life just got turned upside down. Her mom is dead, leaving behind nothing but an apartment full of memories and a letter with a bucket list of things she hopes Sutton will do in the next year. The first thing on the list? Spend the summer with a great-uncle that she’s never even heard about in the tiny town of Destiny Falls, Michigan.

Lyla Winters’s life is at a crossroads. She's bounced around from one job to another since she was 16, wanting to experience everything, but now that she's 25, her lack of a plan is a little less cute. Too bad for her, she has no idea what she wants to do with the rest of her life. She’s got a plan though. She’ll take a year off to travel and find herself. That plan goes off the road though when she gets to Destiny Falls, Michigan, and runs into some fancy SUV.

Madelyn Freya has always had things come easy for her. She’s outgoing, smart, pretty, comes from a loving family. So why isn’t she happy? She thought that it was just growing pains, a side effect of growing up in a small town and that she would be able to find herself when she went off to college.

Iris Maeve has always had a penchant for things from the past. It's why she studied art history in college and why she opened her own antiques store in Destiny Falls. She prefers the simpler things, the slower pace of life in her hometown. She has her shop, her friends, and her little cabin in the woods.

Record Mason’s whole life has been a curse, actually. At least that’s what her parents have always told her. It’s kind of a long story. She’s sick of being a problem for her family and bringing them down with her bad luck though, so she packs up her old car and hits the road.
