Incursion

In the year just before the Left Behind series started, Singing Springs is invaded by mercenary soldiers with orders to re-educate and/or detain dissenters to current government policy. Rose Trusty, a quiet older woman, becomes one of the three main voices of resistance, though she is among the imprisoned. Joshua Morgan, a deputy sheriff, escapes the first round up. As a member of the Watchmen, he battles to free the 600 friends and neighbors being held prisoner. Carmella Miles, a soldier with IAMS, sees the fallacy of the action and joins the townspeople in their struggle.

Only five days ago, I lost all sense of peace and safety when the people in my small, quiet, mountain town came under attack. The invaders broke down our doors and dragged us out of our homes. They imprisoned us for being "haters." If it wasn't for our Watchmen, all 600 of us who were taken would have been transported to a secret site and held until we surrendered our beliefs. I am sad to report the enemy killed three of us during the resistance.

The people of Singing Springs have repelled two invasions intent on destroying voices of dissent. Subpoenaed to appear before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, they will be judged either as perpetrators of sedition and sentenced to life in prison, or found a community who acted legally to defend their civil rights against the brutish violation they endured.

It’s easy to be lulled into thinking all is right with the world. Soldiers invaded our town with no warning. Breaking down doors, they dragged us out of our homes and held us against our will. “Haters” they spat at us. Haters to them meant Christians – we were imprisoned for our faith. I, along with 600 others, was given the choice to renounce my beliefs or face internment. The Watchmen of our town stood against the invaders and freed us. Still it wasn’t over.

I thought the coming year would be the same as the last few. I was wrong. All of that went askew the moment I spied the men in white camouflage sneaking from pine tree to pine tree down the mountainside into my neighborhood. No more casual lunches with friends. No more family parties. No more going to church on my own. No more going to bed at my regular time, alone. Since 8: 33 that morning, I have lived in constant upheaval. Death threats and outrageous accusations fly my way from every direction. Never would I have believed I would be arrested… twice…
