Once Upon a RomCom

Is Luna destined for a happily ever after, or is it game over for her love life? Move to the adorable town of Brookhaven? Check. Get bumped to first class on the train and meet the most gorgeous, considerate man of my life? Check. Find a job in video game animation and a cozy apartment of my own? Not so much. So maybe things in Brookhaven aren’t quite as idyllic as my friend promised. My one saving grace is playing video games every evening with my best online friend, MidKnight.

I’ve been trying to break into acting for years, and now I’m finally up for a lead role in a romcom movie. It’s a huge step up from barista #3, especially considering who’s supposed to play my love interest—Adam Stone. Sure, he’s known as the “Hollywood Hothead” and disappeared from the public eye eight months ago after he punched fellow actor Tristan Jackson on the red carpet. But I’m willing to endure some personality issues for the sake of my big break.

I’ve been a prisoner for five hundred and fifty days. Okay, technically I’m just stuck in my aunt’s four-story tower. And yes, Aunt Agatha is more "eccentric book club queen" than evil captor. But still—no piano, no freedom, and no escape from my own mistakes. Like almost marrying a guy who pretended to love me just to get back at my brother. So when Ryder Hawthorne—my brother’s best friend and absurdly hot Hollywood stuntman—shows up climbing my actual tower, I assume I’m hallucinating. He says he’s here to check on me. I think he’s here to test my willpower.
