Starship for Sale

When Ben Murdock receives a text message offering a fully operational starship for sale, he’s certain it has to be a joke. Already trapped in the worst day of his life and desperate for a way out, he decides to play along. Except there is no joke. The starship is real. And Ben’s life is going to change in ways he never dreamed possible. All he has to do is sign the contract. Joined by his streetwise best friend and a bizarre tenant with an unseverable lease, he’ll soon discover that the universe is more volatile, treacherous, and awesome than he ever imagined.

Ben never thought owning a starship would be easy. He didn’t expect it to be quite like this. It was one thing to take a job as a smuggler to pay for basic necessities like maintenance, fuel, and food. Another to have one of the most powerful nobles in the galaxy gunning for him at every turn. But when Keep turns up unexpectedly with a new offer that’s even wilder than the last, will it put him on the path toward his true destiny? Or is it just another con?

Ben knows that if he’s going to make it as a starship captain, something’s got to give. After another unexpected run-in with Mr. Keep, he’s ready to accept that he can’t avoid his fate forever. But the first step is a doozie, and he isn’t exactly starting out on the best footing. He has more to lose than his starship or his life. A lot more. Buying the starship was business. Ben returns to the Spiral with Keep, eager to reunite with his ship and crew. With the true danger to the galaxy in greater focus, he knows what needs to be done. When an unexpected meeting becomes more than he bargained for, he thinks he’s being sidetracked yet again. Except his new acquaintance hates Sedaya even more than he does, and she has a plan to get even.

Armed with evidence of Sedaya’s treachery, Ben and his crew seek an audience with the Empress. If everything goes according to plan, the duke will be brought to justice and the bounties on their heads lifted.

When things fell apart, they fell apart fast, leaving Ben to pick up the pieces. Unwilling to succumb or surrender, he’ll do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of his crew. Already far behind the eight ball, it’s going to take strength, resilience, and fortitude he never knew he had to get back into the fight.

Ben used to dream about being famous. He didn’t expect to wind up infamous instead. Now he’s stuck in the middle of the most grotesque contest in the galaxy, racing against time and some of the most dangerous and deranged psychopaths in the Spiral to rescue his crew from a bloody battle royale.

If Ben wants to prevent Duke Sedaya from gaining an iron grip on the Hegemony, his only hope lies in locating the missing Prince Hiro. Of course, it won’t be easy. And even if Ben can find him, it may already be too late.
