The Upperworld Series

Who decides where we are born and who we love? Luna is an immortal entity in the Upperworld learning how to assign human souls to the body and life they’re intended for. Onyx is her mentor and guide there, teaching her everything she needs to know about assigning souls and dispatching them to Earth. Everything goes well until Luna’s friend makes a major mistake and Luna is sent to earth after covering for her. In her absence, an unbelievable secret is revealed that changes everything she thought she knew about how the world works.

As the Upperworld begins to fall apart, Onyx leaves his post as a guide and joins Luna on Earth. She needs protection from a mysterious assassin bent on bringing her ultimate demise. Together, Onyx and Luna learn to navigate the human world while dodging the sinister stalker who is bent on tracking her every move. Above them in the Upperworld that Onyx left behind, the Most High Being is rapidly dying - and nothing can save him. If his death goes unchecked, the entire Upperworld, and all of humanity, will be at risk of extinction.

It appears that Luna is noticing exactly what he was afraid of - that the chair is changing Onyx, and not for the better. After the successful revolution led by the Disturbers, the Upperworld now lies under the dominion of Onyx. Unfortunately, the current that provides the life energy for the orbs now runs through him, rendering him physically unable to leave the throne or touch anyone without immediately vaporizing them. Onyx and Luna are now the only half-humanoids in the Upperworld emotionally tied together, for better or worse - and they both suffer greatly from being kept apart.
