The resolution of Weston's story in the Wall Street Journal Bestselling Deliciously Dark Fairytales world.

He wasn't supposed to fall in love.

Weston has made a mess of things. Since he realized the woman he was supposed to find and bring to justice was his true mate, things have spiraled out of control. He's gone from one bad decision to the next, and now the situation threatens to topple down around him.

The good news is, Aurelia isn't responsible for hurting people. She isn't the one who should stand in front of the dragons and plead for her life.

If only the dragons and their kingdom agreed.

Weston must try to relay the truth and protect his true mate, all while she struggles to work through her past, his deceit, and her new life in opposition to the one woman she'd thought of as her mother.

Aurelia must go to war, and Weston will do everything he can to ensure she comes out alive.

This is the conclusion to the duet and ends in an HEA. All loose ends are tied up.

The sex was hot and the writing solid, as usual, but this suffered from two major problems:

1) The main character is a Mary Sue — if you’re unfamiliar with this term, this was the hilariously accurate definition I found from a 2017 post on Urban Dictionary: “A Mary Sue is an original character (oc) that has no flaws. Of course the author of this oc will say "they are clumsy" or "they are not very good at maths" or whatever. They will most probably have a power or an evil twin/ dark side. They also might have an impossible bloodline. Such as a half werewolf or half fairy.” I won’t enumerate all the things that Aurelia is gifted in; that would make this review far too long.

2) This feels like a novel that was padded out to make a duology — this was most likely the original publisher’s decision, but the story suffers for it.

First time Breene disappointed me

And of course I have listened to this entire series. I absolutely love this author and the narrators are absolutely amazing! It’s going to be hard to top this series but I’m going to try. Definitely worth every penny

I loved heading back into the dragon kingdom and the completion of Weston and Aurelia's story. My only complaint was that I felt like there was little climax and all story building. Overall great story!
