Wanda E. Brunstetter sets this poignant tale in Pennsylvania's Amish heartland.

Convinced the blacksmith just wants a mother for his young daughter and a wife to cook and clean, Miriam spurns his heartfelt attention. Soon she meets an intriguing reporter. But will she find true love and happiness with an outsider or in an Old Order marriage?

I don’t write this lightly, I just cannot get past the main character of the story. She is so self centered, everything is about her. Like eeyore, woo is me! After 19 chapters of that, I just couldn’t listen anymore. I kept waiting for it to change, and I hope it does, but I cannot keep reading something when I don’t like the main character, I don’t even feel sorry for her. It is her own self centeredness that is causing the issue. Ugh!

Just cannot finish

This was my first Amish based romance book. The reader did a great job. However the lead character was such in a dark place it made me sort of depressed and hoping to rush toward the happy ending. Marian wasn't so Merry until the very end. I think I'll pass on other books by is author. It was well written & I enjoyed learning about the Amish ways.

Merry? Really?
