I’ll burn Chicago to the ground before I let her marry a Volkov. Maeve Callaghan is my forbidden obsession.

The reason I left for Europe three years ago.

We were on the edge of crossing a line that could get us killed.

Now I’m back and my desire returns with a vengeance.

When my boss announces her engagement to a Russian, I know I’d die before I let her marry him.

Maeve flees, taking the decision from my hands.

Her father makes the grave mistake of sending me to retrieve her.

I’ll betray the clan for her, hell, I’d die for her.

Maeve doesn’t know the monster behind the man.

I’m about to teach her how dark my soul truly is.

Maeve is good and pure, but I’m rotten to the core.

I can’t fight the pull any longer, no matter the consequences.

Chicago will erupt into a war like no one has ever seen.

Can our love survive the chaos or will it burn along with the city?

Cruel Savior is the first book of the Chicago Mafia Dons Series. This book is a dark mafia romance involving bad language, dark themes, violence and scenes that may upset some people. It has no cliffhanger and a happily ever after ending and can be listened to as a standalone. It features an over-the-top possessive and dark hero who wants the heroine no matter the costs.

DNF! I started this and it was promising until they got to the mountains and it just became weird. His frustration with her at getting some food & coffee at the diner was one thing bcz he told her to stay in the car, but for starting a fire for warmth and using that as a reason to ‘punish’ her for disobedience was just cringy. I purchased the audio version & usually enjoy these particular narrators, but for some reason, I just could not get past the cringy on this one.
