Lendsey rescue

I really liked the first two books in the series and was excited to move to the next but Mr. James sounds like a robotic 1940s actor with his odd accent and pronunciation. And Jennifer Ann is APPALING! She sounds like Dorothy from the wizard of Oz throughout the story and with "modern slang", cursing and sex scenes it made me hate Lindsey.

it's hard to get past the narrators

The heroine: Lyndsey - after most of the men on earth died in a global pandemic, and it was found that over 90% of other planets that had sentient life, had males that were compatible with humans, many even looked very much like human males. Lyndsey was only too happy when she was chosen for the off-world singles program. She chose a planet where each woman was paired with two men.

The Heroes: Baruk and Zadal - they were senator leaders on their home planet, and they were focused on their careers, so they wanted to get married for business reasons. They would get further if they were seen as family men, and so they entered the SP choosing and were happy to be chosen. They figured they would treat their woman great, and she would make them look even better.

The Story: Lyndsey was overjoyed with the circumstances she found herself in with two hot and sexy men who treated her like a queen. She wanted to do something for them in return, so she went to the market and was abducted by Meranian slave traders. She was held with her friend Faye for a while and though they were abused at least they were together, and Fae was sure that her Jutak warrior would rescue them both. However, she was sold as a slave before that could happen.

I liked the fact that the storylines differed in each of the books of this series so far, yet they were similar in ways. Each of the Heroes are from different planets, backgrounds and different alien races, though they look very similar to humans (though that does seem quite unlikely). In this one, both heroes are senators, but Baruk is kind of snobbish, while Zadal has a lower-class background and a mother who is a sex worker. The two argued on the senate floor all the time and the last thing either of them thought was that they would end up in a triad marriage together.

So much happened in this book with the marriage, Lindsey being treated badly by the people that worked with her men and their wives, then later getting kidnapped and sold. The two senators ended up having to work together to get her back. All the time, worried about what was happening to her. The guys were both quite a bit uptight at the start of the book but became much more likable as the book went on and Lindsey was a bright and sunny character.

There were also some big surprises in this book in the ongoing story about the Meranian outlaw Lothar and we learned more about who he is and about his son Nikhal who hates his father more than anything and tries to protect his siblings while his father is cruel and cares for nobody but himself.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via Duet narration. It was narrated by Ian James and Jennifer Ann. These are different narrators than in the last book, and I don’t think that I have heard either of them before. Ian James’ voice wasn’t one of my favorites for a male narrator, because I like a deeper male voice, especially for alien romance whose Heroes are always extremely tall and muscular. His voice just didn’t quite fit.

I was surprised when the first chapter came on and it was in Lynsey’s POV but narrated by a male narrator. They when she spoke, her voice was a female voice. I didn’t notice if the last book was done that way as well. Jennifer’s voice isn’t my favorite either but isn’t bad, I just didn’t like the high voice she used for Lindsey at first, but it grew on me and matched her character.

Triad marriage!
