I loved listening to the book. It was sad to imagine the hardships of poverty and soothing knowing the love is coming(not sure if that's a good thing though). The HEA was incredible.

I enjoyed the story. I think I might have enjoyed reading it more than listening to it. Something about the way that the narrator voiced the professor felt very mechanical. He was supposed to be a reserved character, so from that side it makes sense. For being part of a relationship, though, it was just too understated.

Having read other Nora Phoenix Daddy books with her 'Hand' series I've come to realise that I unashamedly have a Daddy kink!
This one has a less complex back story for the protagonists than the others I've mentioned, but it's a nice easy listen.
In the beginning the Professor is painted as stern and privileged but with some self doubt left from a previous breakup. Baxter, a sweet, hard working mature student struggling to make ends meet, ends up helping to heal himself and the Professor.
There's no third act break up, just a good low angst story with a lovely HEA.
Quite spicey in places, with some eye watering scenes at a BDSM club near the end 🥵 although they are Daddy and boy not Dom/Sub after a realisation by the Professor near the beginning of their relationship that it was a more fitting dynamic for them.
As with any Kenneth Obi (rip) narration, it has distinct characterisation and is easy on the ears.

I really tried to like this, but ugh. Hagen is so arrogant and obtuse in the first half of the book that it was impossible to like him when he suddenly decided to be Baxter's daddy in the second. TBH, he went from being the world's worst Dom to the world's most boring Daddy. There is nothing sexy or romantic here.
