It took me a while to get used to the narrator and focus on the book. As someone who recently remarried, I found this book to be very helpful and thought provoking. My husband and I listened to it together. I would recommend.

Great content but the narrator sounded like Alexa

I didn't realize when I bought Red Hot Monogamy that every other sentence would reference a verse in the Bible. This book the key relationship messages were relevant and mostly good, but I kept finding my self fast forwarding when they would go off on a tangent.

Too preachy

This book is guaranteed to kill your interest in sex. The authors suggest spicing up your sex life by doing things like putting a fireplace in your bedroom, installing a double headed shower in your bathroom, decorating your bedroom to resemble an African Safari, or Tara (from GWTW), or a French boudoir. Yes, much of this book is about redecorating your house. For readers who don’t have an unlimited budget, they suggest some less expensive alternatives- like weekends away at fancy resorts, or shopping trips for jewelry and negligée’s. They have about a hundred suggestions for creating situations that are supposed to improve your sex life, a few of them are appealing and doable, but most are not. They assume you have an unlimited supply of baby sitters. And for a book that’s supposed to be about sex, they seem too embarrassed to even use the word. They substitute “red hot monogamy” for “sex.” It’s all quite childish. Even though they repeatedly tell couples not to be too embarrassed about their bodies to try some adventurous sex, and to ask for what they want, and to be willing to try something new - they never explain what “new and adventurous red hot monogamy” looks like. Aside from a very brief (and positive) foray into oral sex, they don’t actually touch on any “red hot” topics. Oh, and they repeatedly admonish readers that if you’re not married, don’t have sex, because it could not possibly be good. All the good sex is already being had by married christian couples. They have statistics to prove it. Which begs the question, then who needs this book?

Much of what this book claims is based on old tropes and stereotypes. There some useful suggestions and a great many poor/strange ones. I’m giving it a 2 for those few suggestions.
