He’s a fierce, ferocious, death-dealing beast. And he’s reading a book in her library...

In a world of recently warring orcs and men, Rosa Rolfe leads a quiet, scholarly life as an impoverished librarian—until the day she finds an orc. In her library. Reading a book.

He’s rude, aggressive, and deeply terrifying, with his huge muscled form, sharp black claws, and cold, dismissive commands. But he doesn’t seem truly dangerous…at least, until night falls, when he makes Rosa a shocking, scandalous offer.

Her books, for her surrender. Her ecstasy. Her enlightenment…

Rosa’s no fool, and she knows she can’t possibly risk her precious library for this brazen, belligerent orc. Even if he is surprisingly well-read. Even if he smells like sweet, heated honey. Even if he makes Rosa’s heart race with fear, and ignites all her deepest, darkest cravings at once…

But surrender demands a dangerous, devastating price. A bond that can’t easily be broken. And a breakneck journey to the fearsome, forbidding Orc Mountain, where a curious, clever librarian might be just what’s needed to stop another war…

A dark, angsty, full-length fantasy romance. Comes after The Heiress and the Orc, but also acts as a standalone. Happily ever after guaranteed.

So I have read all the Orc Sworn series and have listened to all the ones released on audio thus far. Shane brings all of the characters to life so much that he just pulls you in completely, like you are an invisible presence in their midst. A lot of the human female main characters so far in the books kinda get on my nerves, in the books. It is even worse when I hear Shane bring them to life. lol. Nothing bad on his part, he is one of my few favorite narrators.

Let's talk about our girl Rosa...shew, she is willing to do whatever it takes to make it in the male dominated world that she lives in and I mean anything. Her body. Yet she wants to play the victum when John makes a bargain with her all so she can get her hands on whatever information she can gather, just so she can give it to her boss/lover all because she wants to move up in the world.

So of course John thinks she is a stupid human. No, she is more than that! A manipulative, play the victum, and boo-hooing floozy is what she is!

I know some may think this review is absurdly harsh but it is true. This review has nothing to do with Finley because she is absolutely freaking amazing and I love her so much. It is just this female character I can't handle. I will still be listening to each one of the books because I love hearing all the orcs.

Rosa....guuurl

been listening for a while and I love the narration and the author.
after the first two books I have been rooting for the bookworm. And his not failing, he learned well from his buddies and captain. he been reading a lot of romance stories and damn.. he smooth playing the hot bad guy I'm games with another book worm.
still I have to say he would have been better with a fighter. I do look forward to the next narration and I hope the next orc gets a female fighter.

John- Ka is a clever bookworm.books are power😉

Rosa’s a bit of a hypocrite. She always asks John to tell the truth and not lie to her while she is keeping secrets from everyone. I like how the Orcs are always a few steps ahead. I guess that comes in handy when you’re 100+ years older than the humans.

Part calling the kettle black

Like all the Orc sworn this spice in this book is delectable! I thought the bdsm flavor of this book really fit the personalities of the couple. I never thought of it as a method of bringing closeness to the characters, instead of darkness. Highly recommended to all the monster lovers out there.

Shane East + monster romance = perfection
