Life as a raider in the Wastes, where monsters roam and the military lurks, is as easy as it sounds.

I’ve been out here for a long time, and the fear that courses through my blood every time I step outside our camp walls to scavenge never fades. No matter how many monsters you face—and have to run for your life from—it doesn’t ever get easier.

But when I come across a bound and injured monster in an abandoned military base, I can’t leave him behind. His presence in our camp is causing tension, but I can’t bring myself to care when I get to see a different side to him—when he starts to show me who he is beneath the pain and lingering trauma.

Despite his gentle nature, I soon discover why others are so desperate to own him; why the military, and now this stranger lurking outside our camp, want to put him back in chains and take him away from me.

Something is hiding under his skin, something that threatens to upend my entire life.

There’s a reason why all other monsters fear him.

The Rycke contains explicit sexual content, graphic depictions of torture and violence, and deals with PTSD. It is book three in the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order.

I am legit obsessed with this series. It truly does just keep getting better and better! I love how Aury is so fearsome, yet so sweet and gentle. I really felt his and Ghosts' love for each other, so moving. I also loved Rig and Lilac such great characters. I also love how each book is loosely tied to each other. Can't wait to see what happens with Rig and his soon to be beastie, Gloam. Micheal Lesley is just killing the narration, amazing job! Highly recommend!

So at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the Ryke’s voice, not what i imagined for the strongest most deadly monster out there but you definitely warm to it. Because let’s be honest Lesley is just downright incredibly talented and the different ranges his voice can go is just mind boggling. I can never say enough about that man’s pure raw talent! 👏🏽
The story itself is of course a work of art, shed some tears for sure. Maybe bc I’m just a sap but mmph loved it. Idk how I always end up feeling some type a way about these damn humans oppose to the monsters. I always end up feeling like humans are more monsters than the actual monsters. . But then again not surprised by that.

this is my favorite monstrous story, I love these characters, and the journey they go through to find themselves while falling in love with each other. It's such a sweet love story, but has lots of apocalyptic layers that keep the story far from sappy or predictable.
