The dark, erotic duet by Victoria Vale, now in one bundle!

"Dark, gothic, and sizzling hot, The Villain is Jane Eyre meets Fifty Shades." (NYT Times best-selling author Anna Zaires)

Book One: The Villain

A heartless villain…

Lady Daphne Fairchild braves the journey from London to the wilds of Scotland alone with one purpose in mind: confront the man who purposely and methodically set out to ruin the men of her family. But what he demands in exchange for answers will thrust Daphne into a world of mystery, hatred, and lust.

An indecent proposal…

Thirty days and nights in the bed of the Earl of Hartmoor...this is the price she must pay to learn the truth of the dark lord’s vendetta against her family. Yet, when she accepts the offer, Daphne never expects to find that nothing is what she thought it was, and the truth proves far harder to stomach than she ever imagined.

Book 2: The Dove

An unexpected obsession…

After 30 days and nights in his bed, Adam sends Daphne back to London a fallen woman, the final blow that will see the Fairchild family scorned by society. However, he is hard-pressed to forget the beauty of her submission, or the brief moments of peace and balance she brought his tortured existence. Despite the bad blood between their families, he is determined to possess her, to stake his claim on her beyond the 30 nights she gave him. She will fight him at every turn … which will only make the chase, and her inevitable surrender, all the better.

A choice between love and retribution…

When the consequences of Adam’s deeds begin to fall back on not only him, but Daphne, as well, he is forced to bring her under his protection. He will end this feud between his family and hers once and for all, and is determined to put her behind him when all is said and done. Yet, it becomes increasingly clear that setting her aside will not be as simple as he thought. Her heart could be his for the taking, but only if he will abandon his vendetta against her family once and for all. Will Adam choose a lifetime of peace and love with Daphne … or will the need for revenge consume him, and eventually, destroy him?

This is the second time I’ve listened to this story since it came out and it was just as good the second time around. As someone with a large library with close to 1000 books in my audible collection alone, this writer/narrator combination is perfection. The writing is smart and extremely sexy with narration that has no comparison.

This book prompted my initial interest in Victoria Vale’s books and Darcy Stark performs an incredibly and impelling sexy villain. Especially when addressing his “Little Dove”. As someone who has enjoyed Vale’s writing, and I can only hope she comes out with similar stories in the future. Either way, I’ll enjoy this one for years to come.

Amazing 👏 I fell in love with the characters, the storyline & Hart's voice!!! A great story of revenge, lust, determination & love. I didn't want it to end... The storyline has many characters woven into it, the villains surprising & the hero just delicious! I went straight thru on both stories... wonderful! one suggestion if you can listen/read the prequel Hart... gives you a great foundation.

WOW! I love this duo...

The Villain Duology is a two book set featuring the seduction of Lord Adam by Lady Daphne. That is correct: although Adam sets out to defile and corrupt Daphne, I believe that with her internal and external beauty, Daphne is the ultimate winner in their game of seduction. Daphne is an exceptional character, full of strength and determination but also a deep well of compassion and love. She would be an amazing woman in any era, but she is especially impressive given the Victorian setting of the novels. Throughout both books, Adam continues his attempts to ruin Daphne, but she always triumphs as she opens more and more of Adam to her undeclared love. These books are dark and passionate with beautifully written scenes of sexual and emotional dominance, and, even with the frequency of explicit sex scenes, I felt each of those scenes were necessary and moved the plot towards it's climactic conclusion. The author skillfully reveals brief snippets of the underlying reasons for Adam's attempts at Daphne's ruination, but only just enough to keep the listener glued to the story. If you enjoy a story that draws every possible emotion - from anger to joy to fury to peace - The Villain Duology is the perfect choice. I hope to see many more books by Victoria Vale available on audio soon.

Darcy Stark's narration is phenomenal. Not only does he have a deep and sexy voice, his delivery is flawless and his tone perfect for every mood of the story. He portrays Adam's supercilious attitude with Daphne to perfection. So many times while listening, I wanted to reach through my iPod and smack him when he called Daphne his Little Dove in that VOICE. I love an audiobook that alternatively stirs my ire and makes me smile, and Stark's performance helped make that a reality for me with The Villain Duology.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.
