On the Central Coast of California lies the pristine city of Westphalia. The small town is on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the world. It is like a Mediterranean jewel that has been transported to the Pacific. Only the most wealthy and well-known people can afford to live in Westphalia. Those who support Westphalia with their labor can only afford to live in the neighboring town of Raleigh.

But unlike anywhere else there is more going on in Westphalia than meets the eye. Is this referring to the fact that Westphalia has some of the best waves in the world, attracting some of the best surfers, or that the beaches are lined with some of the most beautiful bodies on the planet? While it is true that the area has many of these physical attributes, there is something more. There seems to be an alternate world that is working in tandem with the physical. Some call it “Westphalian Magic”. It is as if you can feel a breeze winding through the city; healing all that ails its inhabitants.

You would have to say there was some kind of magic in the works for it would seem impossible for some of the citizens to overcome what they have encountered; broken relationships, destroyed marriages and even death. But even with some of these great problems, many of the Westphalians have been healed. And for some, despite their lost loves, they have regained their faith and hope in something greater and that they can have love and be loved again.

The men and women of Westphalia have been intoxicated by love. They are blinded by the power of “Eros,” or so the ancient Greeks would have you believe. But yet, despite the magic, there are still those who fall victim to something that lies hidden. There are some that however much they fight and hope, the power of Westphalia cannot help them. No matter where you live there is no relief for these who put self before love.
