AMANDA WEST LEWIS is the author of ten books for young readers and was the Founder and Artistic Director of the Ottawa Children’s Theatre. She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is a writer, theatre creator and calligrapher who is passionate about writing and creating for and with young people. 'Focus. Click. Wind,' nominated for the Geoffery Bilson Award for Historical Fiction, tells a story behind political activism and turmoil in the 1960s, leading to the question -- "How far would you go to change the world?" 'These Are Not the Words,' listed by the American League of Poets as one of the best novels in verse, summer 2022, is a semi-autobiographical novel that uses prose, poetry, jazz and Shakespeare to confront addiction and mental health issues in the lower East side of Manhattan, 1963. 'A Planet is a Poem,' illustrated by Oliver Averill, winner of the Lane Anderson Award for science writing, youth category, is a picture book combining poetry and non-fiction.
