Recipient of the 2018 North Street Book Prize in Literary Fiction for her novel TRADING FOURS, and the Soul Word Magazine Poetry Prize for her single poem “Cotton Candy,” writer—musician—multimedia artist Angela Carole Brown has published eight books in the genres of fiction, poetry, and creative-nonfiction, and has produced eight music recordings in the genres of jazz and folk. Her newest book release is HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN: 10 PRINCIPLES FOR RECLAIMING YOUR SPIRIT. In 2012, Angela was the keynote speaker for OTDA at Penn State, on her experience being a kidney donor, which became the linchpin for her memoir THE KIDNEY JOURNALS. Her most recently published poetry chapbook VISCERA continues the saga, through narrative verse, on her kidney recipient's need for a second kidney 12 years later. Shorter works appear in MacQueen's Quinterly; Flapper Press Poetry Café; Brilliant Corners: A Journal of Jazz & Literature; Thorny Locust; The Writers Place Yearbook Volume 3; Echoes Media vMuseum; Soul Word Magazine; and the poetry anthology "In the Black / In the Red" from Helicon Nine Editions. In 2021, Angela was honored with an entire concert, by the Los Angeles-based 60-voiced Metropolitan Master Chorale, created around several of her 100-word stories from her collection ALEATORY ON THE RADIO, entitled "Short Stories." At the end of 2020, Angela produced a videobook from her children’s story THE RICHEST GIRL IN THE WORLD, which she also illustrated and narrated, and which is now the recipient of several film festival awards in Multimedia. She is featured in the documentary film The Goddess Project.
