Artem Chapeye (Ukrainian: Артем Чапай) is a Ukrainian writer. He writes fiction as well as creative non-fiction. Artem is a four-time finalist of the BBC Ukraine Book of the Year Award, as well as other awards in both literature and journalism. A Ukrainian translator of Mahatma Gandhi’s texts and believer in non-violent political change, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, Artem volunteered for the Ukrainian army preferring to be an agent of resistance rather than a victim of imperialist aggression. Artem is an avid traveler who has spent approximately two years living, working, and traveling in the U.S. and Central America—an experience that has greatly informed his writing.
