My Journey into Children's books... The beauty of the beach has always been a profound inspiration for me. Growing up along the Jersey Shore, the ocean has shaped both my personal and artistic journey. Inspired by my family, I wrote and illustrated my first children’s book, Benny at the Beach, after a humorous day seaside with my two sons. When a pair of seagulls tried to snatch our lunch, their comical expressions sparked the painting Fish Breath and, ultimately, the idea for a book series. Determined to bring the story to life, I taught myself digital illustration on an iPad and explored self-publishing, leading to the release of Benny at the Beach in March 2023. Less than a year later, I published the sequel, Sam in the City (November 2023), continuing Benny and Sam’s adventures as they explore new places, meet new friends, and discover the joy of embracing differences. My newest book, Ollie the Elf and the Surfing Surprise (October 2025), blends holiday magic with coastal fun, bringing a Christmas twist to my seaside storytelling. The title “BENNY” is a Jersey Shore slang term for summer visitors, but through my books I hope to celebrate diversity, encourage children to embrace differences, and sprinkle in a touch of local humor. One of the greatest joys of this journey has been visiting schools and connecting with young readers. My interactive presentations inspire kids to read enthusiastically and to explore their own storytelling and artistic abilities. With more adventures for Benny, Sam, and Ollie on the horizon, I’m excited to continue sharing their world. When I’m not sketching or writing, you’ll find me cheering on my sons at sporting events, creating new art in my studio, or enjoying time with my amazing family.
