Colm Toíbín, born in 1955 in Enniscorthy/Ireland, is one of the most important contemporary Irish authors. He lives in Dublin and New York, where he teaches at Columbia University. His literary work has received numerous awards, including the international IMPAC Prize. His novel Brooklyn was successfully filmed; the screenplay was written by Nick Hornby.
