Best-selling, award-winning author, activist, advocate, filmmaker, CEO, and artist. Erica "EL" DuBois was born & raised in Texas where she still lives today surrounded by her amazing family. Erica is of Polish/Native American/Irish/African descent. Erica is a multi genre artist. A Southern Belle at heart with a passion for Jordan's in various colors, Chanel, red-bottom shoes, and traveling. She is notorious for her privacy. She lives a very private personal life with a strict "no comment" policy regarding the privacy of her friendships and relationships. Especially those within the industry. It is rare to find a photograph of her outside of events or advocacy work. When Erica is not writing or producing she can be found dedicating her time to her activism and advocacy. Erica's personal experiences and survival of trafficking, domestic violence, intimate terrorism, abuse, and stalking have fueled her activistism, & advocacy. Her philanthropy extends to support and work with many organizations that support victims of any harassment or abuse. It is her greatest wish that no one ever has to suffer the traumas she endured and that justice is brought for all those who have. These experiences have made her appreciate life, laughter, and love. They also prompted her to start the Twisted Crown Foundation in 2021. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting survivors. In 2023 the Twisted Crown Foundation launched the Healing Initiative Program. A healing initiative dedicated to helping survivors heal through the arts. Erica is also a RAINN Speakers Bureau member, NCADV Speaker, & Advisory Board Member of Hire Survivors Hollywood. Erica "EL" is a believer in a positive attitude, positive actions, and paying it forward. Her motto is "do good things with no expectations, and life has a way of bringing goodness back to you". Her memoir Twisted Crown: A Tale of A Broken Kingdom has been awarded Book of the Year in 2019 and International Social Impact Book of the Year in 2025. Erica's work has also garnered her a 2026 Author of the Year Nomination. Erica is also a member of the Polish-Texan "Matysiak Family Film legacy" a powerhouse push by the Texas based filmmakers to blend mainstream Hollywood with Independent Social Impact projects. Ultimately changing the way the film industry approaches diversity, inclusion, gender parity, and the implementation of survivors in every project as a way to promote healing through the arts.
