J.K. Lynch is a proud native of Richmond, Virginia, and a graduate of Richmond Public Schools. He began his academic journey studying Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park, before discovering his true passion: educating young minds. In 2000, he transferred to Old Dominion University and returned to Richmond in 2004 to begin a meaningful career as a Social Studies teacher. Over the next two decades, Lynch became a respected voice in education. He earned distinctions such as serving on Virginia’s pilot committee for teaching African American History. His work on that initiative led to his role as a contributing author for the Movement textbook series. In 2024, Lynch stepped away from public education to explore new professional opportunities, drawing on the extensive experience he gained as a teacher, Department Leader, Safety Chair, PR Representative, Building Liaison, and International Baccalaureate Coordinator. As a close friend once told him, “You’re just getting started.” Outside of his professional pursuits, Lynch enjoys traveling, reading, suspense films, and spending quality time with family and friends. A self-proclaimed nerd, he finds joy in cultural festivals, museums, and exploring the rich histories of the places he visits across the U.S. and abroad.
