J. Scott Boyd spent a decade in the music industry — working in artist management with acts including The Offspring, Chris Cornell, No Doubt, and Social Distortion, and serving as a director at AOL Music during its peak years reaching fifteen million monthly listeners — before returning to school to become a licensed psychotherapist. He holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology and has worked as a clinical case manager in the Boulder County Jail, a supervisor at the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center, and a therapist in a locked psychiatric facility. He now works in private practice in Boulder, Colorado, treating people struggling with addiction, trauma, and depression. His experiences on both sides of the music industry and the mental health system — with the people the world glamorizes and the people it discards — inform everything he writes.
