Joseph Pearson is a writer and cultural historian based in Berlin. He is a contributing writer for the BBC, Newsweek, Monocle Magazine, and The New England Review. He is the essayist of the Schaubuehne, Berlin’s best known theatre. Since 2008, he has been the voice of The Needle, one of Berlin’s most popular blogs. Pearson was a lecturer at Columbia University in New York, and now teaches at the Barenboim-Said Academy and at New York University in Berlin. Born in Canada, he received his doctorate in history from Cambridge University, UK.
